Downtowner opens third location, this one downtown
March 10, 2017

It only made sense for Downtowner Car Wash to open a location that was actually downtown, which it did at the start of the year.

The location at 1707 Cape Coral Parkway is the most ambitious yet, with 1.3 acres next to Ford's Garage jam-packed with whatever car cleaning options a person could ask for.

To celebrate this milestone, the owners of the company are going to hold a grand opening throughout the month of April, which will feature a free car wash with coupon.

Troy Montpetit, co-owner, said the car wash business has been a family tradition passed along through three generations and two states.

"My grandfather started the first car wash in St. Paul, Minn., in 1978, and my father purchased it from him in the early 1980s. I've been around the business the whole time," Montpetit said. "We moved here in 2006 and have been here since. We don't miss the winters."

The Downtowner opened in Cape Coral in 2006 on 1009 Del Prado Blvd., followed by the Pine Island Road location in 2013, which featured unique ideas such as the self-serve motorcycle and dog washes.

The new location offers car washes for as low as $6 in a 140-foot tunnel, which can handle numerous cars at once without having to wait in line like at traditional car washes.

You can also get wash packages that offer more protection for up to $25, which is also included in the ultimate interior package.

"For only $6, you can get a quick wash in less than 10 minutes, with free vacuums. People enjoy the full-service aspect," Montpetit said.

With any car wash purchase, you get free vacuuming, or the staff can do the inside for you, including window treatment, the dash and cup holders.

The new store has 21 free vacuum stalls, as well as 17 spaces for the full-service wash and detailing.

They also have express detailing, which features hand waxing and leather conditioner, as well as full-service detailing.

The dog wash is the most interesting part, Montpetit said. For a dollar a minute or $10 for 15 minutes, you can get your dog looking great.

Now, that they have a third location up and running, the owners are getting ready to put up a fourth location on Skyline, which could be opened at the end of the year. Other locations outside Cape Coral are also being planned.

"We have great leadership in the company so it's exciting to be able to expand," Montpetit said, whose company employs about 170 full- and part-time employees. "We want to expand outside the Cape after the fourth location opens at the end of the year."

The new location is open Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The other locations may have different hours and services, so check out the company website to learn more at or call 829-4623.
