Opening Saturday for Stirn, Follman exhibit at Island Conclave Fine Art Gallery
March 10, 2017

Island Conclave Fine Art Gallery on Pine Island will host an evening opening exhibit featuring two Southwest Florida artists, Amanda "MiMi" Stirn and Ken Follmann, Saturday, March 11, from 6-9 p.m. That evening guests can meet the artists, take in their art and enjoy free cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

Stirn's art is pure symbolism and surrealism embodied in 2D mixed media resins. Influences of Klimt, Dali and O'Keefe are apparent in both message and styling. Her works include sculpted modeling paste, gold leaf, hand mixed-pigments, which she custom orders from France and mixes, finished with layers of acrylic stains, colored and clear coated resins, with her signature key embedded in each piece. Her art career stretches back to high school where she studied sculpture and through the years has mastered the technique of sculpture and painting to create unique works of art.

The other part to this exhibition is Follman's sculpture. He uses prehistoric, fossilized sharks teeth (even those of Megalodons), bone and shell to create sculptures of mermaids, megalodons, seahorses, fish and many other sea creatures. To make his work even more personal to the collector, he also hosts Fossil Hunting Expeditions where you can go on a fossil hunt with him.

Follmann will have all the table space the entire month in the front salon and will feature many sculptures from his latest collection.

Island Conclave Fine Art Gallery hosts at least one event per month. In addition to this exhibit, the gallery will also host the Pine Island Arts & Crafts Fair, held on the gallery's front lawn and parking lot Saturday, March 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those interested can get on the gallery's mailing list for private invitations or visit its Facebook page at Island Conclave Fine Art Gallery to find out about upcoming events, art classes and exhibitions.
