The seventh annual Fort Myers Kidney Walk will be held this Sunday, March 11, at 10 a.m., at Lakes Regional Park in Fort Myers.

Join kidney donors, recipients, caregivers and their families for this fundraiser to benefit the National Kidney Foundation.

Onsite registration is at 8:30 a.m. Walkers, runners and even scooters are invited to take part in the three-mile non-competitive walk.

Participants can take part as individuals or form teams with family, friends or colleagues.

The fundraiser is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome. Refreshments will be served before the event.

The event will also feature live music, awards for top fundraisers, special performances, health focused education and other activities for the whole family including health focused educational activities.

This year, the goal of the National Kidney Foundation is to raise $50,000. Funds from the walk will go to support the Foundation's programs, which include public and professional education, free kidney health screenings and direct patient aid. The Foundation is dedicated to the prevention of the kidney disease, improving the health and well-being of patients and families affected, and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.

The goal of the event is to reach out to the community with awareness and prevention and advocacy and treatment.

Last year the Walk raised nearly $50,000 and had over 400 people in attendance. The funds raised at this event will make a big impact on the lives of kidney patients and their families.
