DRINK PINK campaign to help local nonprofits

CONRIC PR & Marketing has launched an inaugural DRINK PINK campaign with more than a dozen restaurants participating to honor national breast cancer awareness month in October.

The campaign is challenging local restaurants to offer a DRINK PINK signature beverage that will incite people to "Cheers for Change" throughout the month of October. Those who participate are encouraged to share a photo on social media using #DRINKPINK with the signature beverage at the participating restaurant.

CONRIC President & CMO Connie Ramos-Williams said they are very excited about the DRINK PINK campaign. As of Monday afternoon, 16 restaurants have joined the campaign, 10 days after it was launched.

The campaign evolved from a marketing huddle, a practice CONRIC holds on a regular basis. The conversation stemmed around local nonprofits and how many of their lives have been impacted by breast cancer, and cancer as a whole.

Ramos-Williams said folks dealing with this disease oftentimes cannot afford healthcare, prosthetics or wigs. In addition, they cannot work because the chemotherapy treatments knock them off their feet.

That conversation led to "How can we make a difference?"

She said they selected nonprofit organizations that are smaller and more localized and may not benefit from outside funds. Those organizations, grassroot organizations helping local patients, include Cancer Alliance of Naples, Partners for Breast Cancer Care, Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Support and From Our Hearts.

Some of those nonprofits were chosen because they expressed that they are trying to serve more people in the community and raise money.

"They are doing great things and impacting our local community. How can we help them help others? By raising awareness for grassroot nonprofits that are helping those individuals that are localized and dealing with the difficulty and challenges of learning you have breast cancer," she said.

The restaurants are asked to donate 10 percent or more of the drink sale proceeds to one of the nonprofit organizations. She said the restaurants are more than welcome to pick a different nonprofit. They just ask that they let them know the organization and how much was donated, so they can include it in their wrap-up report.
