A local entrepreneur opened up his third location of Marco's Pizza, his second in Lehigh Acres, offering the freshest ingredients for his customers.

Owner Ripudamam Rattan said he found out about the franchise when he was in Ohio with one of his friends who recommended he try Marco's Pizza. When the pizza franchise extended its business in Florida, he decided it was a good opportunity to bring the freshness to the area.

"I own a couple of 7-Elevens. My sister runs those and now I run Marco's," Rattan said.

He was turned onto Marco's Pizza because they have a great product, which the owner and founder takes a lot of pride incorporating into his business.

Fresh dough is made in house every day. The three cheese blend is never frozen and fresh veggies are cut in house every day. The tomato sauce is even made in house with no preservatives.

"He has his own secret of ingredients, the spice pack, that we put in the sauce," Rattan said. "We make the sauce every day in house as well. The overall product is great. It has a great taste. It is not dry. We take pride in our product. You can see the difference when you taste the pizza. People get hooked to that."

The Lehigh Acres menu of pizza will feature a mix of classic pizzas and innovative specialty pizzas like the White Cheezy, Deluxe and All Meat, along with a variety of salads with croutons made daily. There are also wholesome subs on Italian white bread, hearth baked for authentic European flavor, along with the Meatball Bake, Chicken Dippers and CheezyBread are also on the menu.

Five years ago Rattan opened his first franchise of Marco's Pizza in Cape Coral at 290 Nicholas Parkway, N.W. On April 29, he opened his second location in Lehigh Acres at 4316 Lee Blvd., Unit 2, the cross section of Lee Boulevard and Gunnery Road, marking his third Marco's Pizza in Southwest Florida.

"When you have a good product out there, you want to be there to serve it to the people in the community, introduce them to the new product in town and the new ingredients," he said. "I love the business and being an entrepreneur."

Part of being an entrepreneur is hiring people to work for him.

"It is good for all the kids who are just in high school. When I open the stores we get a lot of the new younger generations to work at these places. We have a fun environment in the store where everyone enjoys making the pizzas and talking to the customers and talking about the products," Rattan said.

Part of his success is making sure everyone enjoys a warm pizza, which means that they only deliver a max of five miles away from the business.

"We want our product to be warm. We don't want to take cold pizzas to customers. We want people to taste the food hot. That's why we don't want to go eight to 10 miles," he said.

Once his new location becomes settled, Rattan said there is an option of opening another location, possibly in Cape Coral.

"Marco's is great because they are expanding and still backing up their product. Consistency is important with what they do. Right now we are happy. I think we should embrace growing," he said, adding that when they were looking into the franchise there were 500 Marco's Pizza and now there are close to 1,000 locations. "It's good to see more entrepreneurs getting into this business."

"Hello Primo" is a new brand that Marco's Pizza recently launched to reinforce its roots and ensure guests "The Italian Way." Pasquale "Pat" Giammarco, the founder of Marco's Pizza, grew up making pizzas with his father after immigrating from Sulmona, Italy, to the United States. Marco's Pizza was founded in 1978.
