Cape woman featured in 2020 Hooters calendar
October 4, 2019

A Cape Coral woman was completely shocked to be featured in the 2020 Hooters calendar as the November Feature Girl.

Kelsey Wilenius, who has worked at the Cape Coral Hooters for more than three years, said she has been featured on the poster, which is inserted into the calendar, for two years.

"To be in the calendar and to be a feature girl, it was crazy," she explained.

Wilenius is one of five local girls to be featured in the calendar. The women found out that they were featured in the calendar during the National Hooters Calendar Reveal Party in Fort Lauderdale on Sept. 24.

"Once the calendar came out everyone got to see if they made the calendar," Wilenius said, expressing her shock.

There were a total of 29 girls who made the calendar, with 51 additional girls featured on the inserted poster and cup. The girls featured will have an opportunity to travel the country to make appearances, as well as sign calendars at Hooters, and charity events.

She said she wanted to try out, and submit photographs for the calendar, because she thought it would be "really cool to represent my home store and be able to say I am a calendar girl."

"I thought it would be an interesting thing to try out for," Wilenius said. "I just went for it."

The public can purchase the Hooters calendars at any of its locations. The calendars became available Oct. 1 and are $12.95. For every purchased calendar, $1 will be donated to the Kelly Jo Dowd Breast Cancer Research Fund, which benefits the V Foundation for Cancer Foundation Research. Over the years, Hooters girls have raised more than $5.8 million to support the fight against breast cancer.

"She used to be a Hooters girl back in the day," Wilenius said of Kelly Jo Dowd. "A dollar goes towards breast cancer, so it is also a good cause."

Wilenius, who graduated earlier this year, received her cosmetologist license. She is involved in the Hooters and Hounds Pet Adoption events, as well as makes visits to the Golisano Children's Hospital.

The other women featured from South and Southwest Florida include:

* Briana Smith, cover girl, Miss Photogenic and 2019 Miss Hooters International. She has worked at the Sunrise Hooters for three years and is currently enrolled at Broward College where she is studying mortuary science. The calendar's fundraising effort is near and dear to her heart because her mother is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

* Gianna Tulio, from Boca Raton, is the centerfold. She has worked at the Boca Raton Hooters for three years and is currently a full-time student at Florida Atlantic University where she is pursuing * degree in business. This is the second time she has been featured in the calendar.

* Angela Porter, from Naples, is featured as Miss May. She has worked at the Naples Hooters for five years and is currently pursuing a career in real estate and interior design.

* Alyssa Duckett, from Fort Myers, is the December Feature Girl. She has worked at the Fort Myers Hooters for 5 1/2 years and is a graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University where she earned her bachelor of science degree.
