12th annual FMPD Cops & Joggers 5K race - Nighttime course runs along and over the Caloosahatchee River and will be illuminated with red and blue lights from police cruisers, motorcycles, fire trucks; family fun activities starts at 5 p.m. in downtown Fort Myers at the corner of Hendry Street and Edwards Drive at 5 p.m.; night race starts at 7:45 p.m. with a motorcycle escort leading the way for runners, joggers and walkers; register on-line at with entry fees ranging from $15 for youths under 17 and $25 for adults who register by Oct. 10; registrations will also be taken on-site the day of the race. Run 4 Your Lungs 5K Run/Walk - Inaugural event hosted by 4 Words Foundation Inc. at Lakes Regional Park in Fort Myers; registration begins at 7 a.m., runners will start at 8:15 a.m. with walkers following. Early registration for adults is $25 and youth (under 18) $15. The first 100 registered will receive event T-shirts; register at:; proceeds will support uninsured and underinsured individuals who are referred into the Regional Cancer Center's Lung Cancer Screening program receive Low Dose CT Lung Cancer Screenings. Screenings will be performed at Radiology Regional or Florida Radiology Consultants.

Merry Mariners Boat Club of Cape Coral - A group of 125 has space for a few new members. Membership is open to both boat owners and crew members without boats, permanent residents and snowbirds.
